However I also believe that if an immigrant can speak english, hold a job and know enough about the country to function as a citizen then I think they should be allowed to stay. I do not think this issue is black and white. I feel that there are many gray ares when it comes to immigration. What country did the person come from, can they speak english, do they have family here, are they dangerous? I think all of these questions and more play major rolls in deciding if a person is worthy of citizenship and how long and if even they should be allowed to apply. He was not convicted of the murders so therefore he is allowed to write on the subject for one. Secondly he was aquitted! He was found innocent in a criminal court of law. Many new startions, comedy shows, and other media sources are calling him a murderer and critising the fact that he was making a book about his trial and what had happend. I think this is depervation of character. He was not able to make money from his book and thru interviews and i believe that it was because of the reaction of many people and what was said through the media. I would be filing a law suit personally. Whether the majoity of the american population thinks that he is guilty or innocnet is of no matter, all that most people really saw of the trial was what was on t.v. and what the media wanted people to see in the first place. Now they are at it again skewing peoples views, even thought personally I think he was guilty, he was still aquitted and should be allowed to publish his book.

short assigment 4.2

House Democrat Wants Draft Reinstated
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/us/AP-Military-Draft.html

This article talked about the possibility of a draft being instated because of the war in Iraq. ''I don't see how anyone can support the war and not support the draft,''(NY TIMES) I personally support the war in Iraq, I believe that with the US being the most powerful nation in the world it is important that we not so much take control but mediate. If people are being opressed or treated unfairly and can't stand up for themselves we should be there to help them, but on the other hand I feel that a draft would be an outrage. I think that without our contry being attacked or fighting a war on our soil I think going into the millitary should be completly a mans choice. Our country isnt in need of being defended at the moment so why change peoples lives without their consent? it should be a persons choie untill the time when they are needed to defend our country and the millitary is in absolute need more people in order to protect our nation.

short assignment 4.1

Democrats Split on How Far to Go With Ethics Law
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/19/washington/19ethics.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

I think that our laws on eithics for government officials are not strict enough. I believe that the government officals make more decisions and vote based on how it benifits them and how it can make there bills get passed rather on how they feel and what they believe is best. Government officals are elected to make decisions for us because we can not all vote on every issue. They are elected to make decisions based on what they think is best for the country and not what puts them ahead or theyre bills. They also arent suppose to be swayed one way or another with gifts and such things that would make them see one way or another.
